Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk.  It’s a name that most know at this point.  He was martyred in broad daylight in front of thousands of people with a bullet to the neck.  At the news of his murder, I was in disbelief.  Shocked. Grief stricken.  Physical grief, yes.  But more than that, it was a spiritual grief.  I grieved over the tension between good and evil that caused this awful trajedy.  Charlie Kirk was a mouthpiece of reason for many young adults and evil saught to snuff him out.

In this world you will have troubles.

John 16:33

I never had the privilege of meeting Charlie Kirk, but like most people that spent time watching him, I felt like I knew him.  He was in the business of speaking truth to America’s young adults. Charlie was unabashedly outspoken about their need for Jesus.  He emphasised the beauty in traditional marriage, the need for a healthy nuclear family, the importance of fathers and mothers in rearing children, the necessity of conservative values in maintaining freedom, the biblical roots of our country’s formation, and the crucial role of absolute truth to civil society.  He put a voice to these truths in the place it was most needed – our educational institutions.  He represented the voices of my children and thousands of other likeminded students throughout our country.

Charlie may be gone, but his movement is not.  Instead, the extinguishing of his life ignited an army of likeminded people into even bigger action.  What has it ignited in you?

Charlie Kirk’s murder revealed that I am a citizen of heaven and not of this world.  And that I must continue to get up each day and live that out.  That I must continue to write and speak it loudly from the rooftops for all to hear!  For me.  For my family.  For my legacy.  For my community.  For my country.

If you struggle with standing in what you know to be true and right, may Charlie’s death be a call to action.  Stand up.  Be heard.  Do not sit quietly in fear of offense.  Speak truth in a deafening manner.  Live truth in all that you do.

My prayer for you today is this:

May your boldness make you hated by evil.
May your wisdom discern the twisted lies of the world’s subjective truth.
May your light shine into the lives of the humble and convict the proud.
May your commitment to God be such a threat to Satan that he trembles when you arise.
May your truth be spoken in the face of losing friendships and family.
May your righteousness prevail over temptation.
May your spiritual armor be dented and stained from the battle.
May your cross be carried for the salvation of those around you.
May your sacrifice be so great that the Gospel is poured out daily to those around you.
